Patient and Kind
Love is patient and kind.
1 Corinthians 13:4a
1 Corinthians is known as the “love chapter” of the Bible. But it is so much more than that. We have much to learn from Paul's letter as a descriptive chapter instead of a prescriptive one. God loves us perfectly, but we can love others well. I’m celebrating my wedding anniversary (41 years and going strong) and pondering this chapter. Would it be safe to say I haven’t lived up to these words - patient and kind? Yes, and I’d place a safe bet you’d answer the same. We often hear these words of truth at weddings and all agree they are powerful, yet flowery prose, but they describe a love we humans can’t completely relate to or fully understand.
