If you’ve walked through the fire like I have the past few years, I have some humble advice, maybe not so much advice but what has and is helping me heal.
I recognize what is mine to own and what is not. I cannot control other people and what they choose to do or not. Leave them to God.
Healing is not a straight path forward. There will be more hills to scale and valleys you’ll have to climb out of in the months and years ahead.
Decide for yourself what helps you heal and what is holding you back. Choose to embrace what helps and let go of what doesn’t. Yes, this is easier said than done. It can feel empowering and scary at the same time.
Give yourself more time than you think is necessary for your healing. Struggles will arise and setbacks happen. I have made massive progress yet there are days I recognize I need more healing.
Give yourself grace for healing. Many don’t choose this path because it requires heavy lifting and not everyone is capable. What is familiar can become comfortable even though it might not be the best thing for your life.
Growth stretches you. Some might not welcome the changes they see in you but this says nothing about you except how far you’ve come.
You are not responsible for the emotions of others. You can only try to control your reactions should they release those emotions at you. Yes, this is hard but possible. Eventually.
Spending time in prayer is one of the things that has helped me heal the most. Spending quiet time with Jesus and sharing my concerns with Him is healing, peaceful, and helpful. Try it. He will always listen.
Lastly, I hope you heal from things no one ever apologized for.
If a paid subscription isn’t possible for you today, you can buy me a coffee instead. Thank you!
Good wisdom. Thanks, Kim.
It seems as though things are coming at us so rapidly this year, and we have no choice but to heal or be crushed. And your last line about being healed from things no one has ever apologized for, that's a tough one. I've been watching a Bill Johnson teaching about how God is restoring those things the enemy stole from us - it has helped tremendously! Thank you for your wonderful words Kim!
