Today is my 40th wedding anniversary! So, in honor of such a momentous occasion, I thought I’d keep it short and to the point and share my top ten tips for a successful marriage. With humor of course, because that’s the only way to make it through 40 years of blissful partnership!
Laugh it off. Don’t take everything personally and please don’t take everything seriously. Some things must be, but not all. When you know which is which it will help your marriage last.
You will learn which buttons to push to get a rise out of your partner. Don’t push them. The damage it causes often can’t be seen for years. Your laugh isn’t worth their pain.
Be on the same page for raising your children. Never belittle the other parent in front of your children.
Speak highly of your spouse to others and them directly. Words matter.
Kindness goes a long way. Little acts of kindness are not so little and can easily convey your care and attention or lack thereof.
